VERNAL POOL MONITORING PROGRAM

CAWS is initiating a program that will monitor vernal pools across a spectrum of developed landscapes.  Inspections will begin pre-development, and will continue annually for 10-15 years after a property is developed.  The goal of the program is to understand how pool-breeding amphibians respond to varying degrees of development in the surrounding landscape, in order to design future projects that will limit these impacts.

If you are interested in participating in this program, please contact one of the people listed in the above fact sheet to sign up.

All volunteers must sign a Data Disclosure Agreement Form (Click on the link to the left to view and print a copy).  Volunteers will need to provide a data form for each pool that is monitored.  Please click here to view or download a copy of the data sheet.  The Protocols for monitoring vernal pools are available here.

Landowners who have a vernal pool on their property and wish to participate in our program must agree to the conditions found in the "Agreement to Participate" form.  Click on the link to the left to view and download a copy of the form.
